End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture.

SDG2 focuses on issues related to ending hunger and ensuring access by all people to safe, nutritious, and sufficient food. At Lynn University, these efforts take a variety of forms, from providing access to a food pantry and resources for local assistance to partnering with companies that prioritize nutrition and wellness initiatives.

This report is organized into three sections:

  1. Institutional Initiatives: Refers to ongoing initiatives at the institution that are currently active, occur every year, and relate to SDG2. Wherever possible, statistics are provided to show the impact of this work.

  2. Events/News: Refers to single events or news that occurred during the reporting year of AY21-22 relating to SDG2. These are not recurring, and as such are not part of the long-term initiatives.

  3. Courses: Refers to all the courses in the university’s academic catalogue for the reporting year of AY21-22 that deal with issues related to SDG2.

Goal 2

Institutional Initiatives

Food Closet

The Lynn Library sponsors a food pantry for food-insecure students by making non-perishable foods available to any student in need during the fall and spring semesters. Other items — like toiletries and menstrual supplies — are also available. The Food Closet is accessible to students at any time during the library’s hours of operation. Students can use the service anonymously and can take any items they need.

The website for the Lynn Food Closet also provides local resources for other food pantries or assistance.

Partnership with Sodexo food services

Lynn partners with Sodexo, a food services company, to ensure the university’s community has options. Sodexo’s commitment to healthy eating, food allergy awareness, and health and wellness approaches provides a varied menu for the community that is well-balanced, focuses on transparency of ingredients, and encourages mindful choices.

By providing access to food to those who are food-insecure, and ensuring a nutritious menu for its community, Lynn University helps further target 2.1 of SDG2, which focuses on ending hunger and ensuring access by all people to safe, nutritious and sufficient food all year round.
