SDG 10 focuses on issues relating to empowering and promoting social, economic, and political inclusion of all, ensuring equal opportunities and reduction of outcome inequality by eliminating discriminatory laws and policies, facilitating orderly and responsible migration and mobility of people, and more. At Lynn University, these principles take a variety of forms from the anti-discrimination policies at every process—from admissions to employment—and the push of adequate and equitable accommodations for anyone who needs them, to the celebration of cultural diversity and identity, among others.
This report is organized into three sections:
Institutional Initiatives: Refers to ongoing initiatives at the institution that are currently active, occur every year, and relate to SDG 10. Wherever possible, statistics are provided to show the impact of this work.
Events/News: Refers to single events or news that occurred during the reporting year of AY22-23 relating to SDG 10. These are not recurring, and as such are not part of the long-term initiatives.
Courses: Refers to all the courses in the university’s academic catalog for the reporting year of AY22-23 that deal with issues related to SDG 10.

Institutional Initiatives
Anti-discrimination policies
Lynn University has anti-discrimination policies established at every level from admissions and hiring to employment and reporting. Additionally, the university has policies pertaining to sexual harassment, which follow Title IX directives to protect anyone from these incidents. Through these policies, the university ensures the safety and security of its community members regardless of race, gender, sex, disability, ethnicity, origin, religion, or economic status.
ADA policies and services
Lynn University abides by the American with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) and the Disabilities Amendments Act of 2008 (ADAAA) regulations to ensure that its community members have access to protections and rights under the law. In doing so, the university provides a variety of services to eligible students and employees.
Student Services
Student services in compliance with ADA law include, but are not limited to, the following:
Academic accommodations, such as extended test time
Housing accommodations, such as a private room
Temporary injury accommodations
Cafeteria accommodations
Moreover, Lynn University offers access to the Institute for Achievement and Learning, which helps students maximize their strengths and achieve their goals toward independent learning.
By instituting anti-discrimination policies across all levels and providing proper accommodations throughout a range of disabilities, Lynn University helps further target 10.3 of SDG 10, which focuses on ensuring equal opportunity and reducing inequalities by eliminating discriminatory laws, policies, and practices while promoting appropriate legislations, policies, and actions.
Celebration of Nations
Every year, Lynn University celebrates its diversity through Celebration of Nations, a program designed to bring together the community to showcase and celebrate their differences. The initiative is led by the Center for Study Abroad in collaboration with other departments at the institution. Students, faculty, and staff spend time celebrating their heritages, music, flags, and cultures. Food, music, and a parade of flags led by Lynn University students highlight the event.
Diversity Committee
Understanding its responsibility to ensure proper representation and equity across campus, Lynn University established an academic diversity committee, which remains active. The committee is charged with reviewing the academic curriculum to ensure that diverse and representative perspectives are part of student learning regardless of their fields of study.
First-Generation Student Celebrations
Lynn University began celebrating first-generation students in AY22-23. This event seeks to increase awareness about first-generation students and provide support and mentorship for them. Students, faculty and staff engage in conversation about what it means to be a first-gen student and what are some of the hardships or challenges they face.
By encouraging, protecting, and celebrating diversity, Lynn University helps further target 10.2 of SDG 10, which focuses on empowering and promoting the social, economic, and political inclusion of all.
